What does Success mean to you?
In my coaching practice, I often get to work with people who get themselves into a mindtrap…
The mindtrap of equalizing the value of a human to the number in their salary.
And this is natural.
The whole world wants you to believe that your paycheque is equal to your value.
And if we were to have this coaching conversation, this is how it would start.
We would sit down to dive deep and truly understand what does success mean to you.
Not to the world, not to your neighbour, not to your colleagues, not to the people you surround yourself with, but to YOU.
Success can be understood.
But to be understood it must be dissected.
It is usually synthesized from different elements:
- quality time with your family
- autonomy
- money
- the freedom that money buys
- ability to do what you want where you want whenever you want with whomever you want
For some people, success can mean other things:
Success can mean having less wants.
To be content with what you have without giving in to the chatter in your head that you are being complacent.
For some, it can mean not to have this dependency on other people’s opinions.
To be free of that humiliating need for external validation.
Success can mean confidence.
Success can mean being comfortable in your own skin, attaining the level of self-awareness when you no longer need to justify your actions, words, or thoughts. To anyone.
Success is kindness.
If you are not kind, this is not a success.
Your net worth does not justify the failure of your character.
And Success IS the Character that you were able to develop.
Despite all the dark forces working against you in this world, success is to be able to nurture qualities that are hard to forge.
Success is discipline.
Success is temperance.
Success is a peaceful mind.
Success is knowing who you are and knowing what you are not.
Success is not pretending.
Success is bringing the authentic you and by doing that giving people sacred space to be unapologetically themselves.
I don’t know what Success will mean to you, I just want you to spend some time and truly formulate it for yourself.
Crystallize your own definition of what success means to you.
Because if you don’t invest time into understanding what Success means to you, the world will tell you — and you will believe it.
✍️ So… What does success mean to you?
