December 30, 2020.

It’s been a while since I posted anything on Medium. But now I know it is time for me to come back.

This year was full of insights, I am sure for you too, so this is what I will be doing this year. I will be sharing some of my meditations here on Medium again.

My writing journey started in 2017 as a 30 days challenge. I wanted to write 30 essays in 30 days. By the end of Day 30, I have published 43 essays.

The first 42 flew completely under the radar, but the 43rd essay was finally noticed. Thousands of people read my essay on meditation. At that moment I knew I have found something that will forever stay as a part of my life. I’ve learned an important lesson from that challenge — consistency will always bring you some kind of result.

I know I should have stayed on the platform but for some reason, I felt that it is a better idea to attempt writing a book. 600 days and “Meditations of a Millennial” was born. I don’t know what kind of results I would have achieved if I had stayed on Medium, but what is done is done. Another lesson was learned — the first person whom you’re writing will change is you.

I published my book on Medium for free and it was time for me to move on.

By the time I finished the book I was a different person. Many of the realizations that I wrote in the book were not applicable even to me anymore.

In 2019 I immigrated to Canada. I was lucky to find a job pretty fast. My first job in Canada was as a Workforce Specialist aka Job Developer. Basically, my job was to help newcomers to find jobs. How ironic.

In November 2019 I started writing on LinkedIn. I grew my network there from 0 to 3k+ and I keep writing there almost every day.

I love LinkedIn. I love the community and the potential that this platform gives its content creators.

My contract with my previous organization ended on November 19th and since then I’m a job hunter again. End of the year, end of the quarter, COVID-19… Job search is not exactly a walk in the park. But things will change in January. I know it.

So I decided to be more systematic this year and this is how I start.

January will be the month of writing challenge.

I will be writing and posting something every day in the month of January.

I know that frequency and consistency will force me to compromise the quality. But I don’t much care. There is another lesson that I learned from writing.

Your writing is transient. It is fleeting like clouds in the sky. You should capture your thoughts when they last and then move on. Because the moment you finish typing the last word you are already a different person. The thought process that has occurred had to take place and now it is your job to let it go.

I don’t know if there will be someone who will still be coming back to my profile to read my essays.

And that is not important.

If my writing made one person stop today, scratch his head, take a pause, and think about something he doesn’t think in his regular life, then my writing has fulfilled its purpose. I have fulfilled my purpose.

I write because I love this craft.

I write because if I don’t write my head would probably explode.

I could have left it private but then no writer ever writes for himself (the one who say so lie to you and maybe to themselves).

I share because making people think is in alignment with my mission on this planet.

Because I believe that it is through deep thought we will be able to elevate our level of consciousness and transform our collective reality.

There are many things that are on my mind lately. And that is why I am returning to Medium. I fell in love with the concept of this platform when I first started.

Medium is like YouTube. You consume the content you want. If you don’t like what you read you just turn off your screen and go about your own business. But if you do like what you read you can contact the person directly and you can ask for more.

One of my favorite philosophers of all time Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote:

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”

And I’m sure that by the end of 2020 and at the very beginning of 2021 you are sitting and thinking about how will you spend this year.

Please join me on this journey of self-creation and personal identity sculpting. Writing is one of the best available tools that we have that can help us to manifest our thoughts. Let’s use it wisely. Let’s use this consistently.

If you have read any of my essays and something has resonated with you please get in touch with me on LinkedIn. And don’t forget to add the personal note that you found me on Medium. I would love to meet you.

I wish you all the best wherever you are.

2021,
here I come.
